No.6/7 Men's Lacrosse Falls to No. 7/6 Cornell

WEST POINT, NY – The No. 6/7 Army West Point men's lacrosse team (9-2) dropped a heartbreaker to No. 7/6 Cornell (9-2) by a final score of 11-10.
Army got star goalie Knox Dent back from injury, making his first start since the Loyola game on March 25.
Cornell scored first with 9:41 left in the opening quarter and then netted a second goal just eight seconds later.
Army scored their first goal when Ryan Sposito netted his fourth of the year to make it 3-1.
Bailey O'Connor scored his 10th goal of the year to cut the deficit to just two, But the Big Red would tack on another goal just one minute later to go back up by two.
Gunnar Fellows would cut the deficit to one by scoring a crazy goal where he was almost even with the goal.
Just 50 seconds later Reese Burek tied the game up for the first time since it was 0-0 with his 21st goal of the year.
Cornell would retake the lead with 2:15 left in the half but Paul Johnson would ensure the game would be tied at half by scoring with 52 seconds left until the break.
Army would be outscored 2-1 in the third, it was the only the second time the Black Knights have been outscored in the third quarter (2/18 vs. Rutgers).
Cornell opened the fourth quarter with two goals to go up by three. With 11 minutes left in the game Jacob Morin scored a man up goal to cut it to two.
There was a suspension of play due to a power outage but it was resumed at the field level.
Paul Johnson then rattled off a natural hat trick to give Army the lead in the span of one minute and one second.
With 3:32 left Cornell tied the game back up.
Down to the final seconds, Cornell scored with nine seconds left on the clock to go up 11-10 and that would be the final.
Army will be back in action next Saturday when they head to Annapolis to take on Navy in the Star Series Presented by USAA.
