No. 13 Women's Lacrosse Powers Past Siena, 18-14

WEST POINT, NY - No. 13 Army West Point women's lacrosse (7-0, 1-0 Patriot League) scored 18 goals against Siena (4-4, 0-0 MAAC) to remain undefeated with an 18-14 victory.
Freshman phenom Brigid Duffy continued to lead the Black Knights, scoring five goals while securing a game-high nine draw controls. Julia Gorajek netted a season-high four goals for Army, while Kathleen Sullivan added three goals and two assists.
Army outshot the Saints 41-28 altogether and took an eight-goal lead into the fourth quarter where Siena was then able to cut the deficit. The Black Knights improved to 5-0 this season at Michie Stadium, once again battling the elements with heavy winds throughout the contest.
The teams went back and forth in the opening quarter, as the Saints got on the board with their first possession to take their first and only lead of the contest at 1-0. Sullivan quickly answered on Army's first possession, before Gorajek made good on a free-position shot the 9:51 mark. Jolie Riedell scored Army's second woman-up goal later on in the quarter, as Duffy netted her first in the opening 15. The four goals marked a season-low in the first quarter at home this season for Army, and the teams went into the second tied up at four goals apiece after Siena scored twice in the final minute.
Army's freshmen took over to begin quarter two, with Duffy scoring twice in the opening two minutes to pull Army ahead. Julia Franzoni logged her second assist on the second tally, finding Duffy on the right-hand side after she passed up a free-position shot. Allison Reilly spun off her defender in front of the net before scoring Army's seventh goal of the game three minutes into the quarter, putting the Black Knights ahead 7-4. Army dominted possession, winning nine of ten draws in the frame. Also firing 14 shots compared to Siena's five, Army scored six goals altogether in the quarter. The reliable trio of Duffy, Gorajek and Sullivan netted the final three and Army took a 10-7 lead into halftime.
Army dominated the third quarter coming out of the break, holding Siena to just one goal in the frame and just two shots on target. Franzoni deposited the first two of the half, with Reilly finding her off the opening draw for a goal fifteen seconds in. The second came off a caused turnover from Duffy, who then found Sullivan in front of the net who layed off the pass to the charging Franzoni. Carleigh Armstrong extended her goal streak to 28 games 20 seconds after, with Reilly again providing the assist. Riedell and Sullivan potted the next two for Army, who blitzed the Saints with five goals in the opening five minutes of the half.
The teams scattered one goal each in the final ten minutes of the quarter, with Army nursing its lead as Gorajek secured her hat trick. Gorajek put in her fourth tally shortly after in the fourth quarter to make it a commanding 17-9 lead for Army with 12:08 to go. Beginning at the 6:41 mark, Siena used a 4-0 spurt across the next 3:10 to make it a 17-13 game. Duffy ensured the victory in the next minute, scoring her fifth of the game, as the final score moved to 18-14 with Army improving to 7-0 this season.
