No. 13 Women's Lacrosse Continues Historic Pace With 23-6 Victory at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, MA - No. 13 Army West Point women's lacrosse (8-0, 2-0 Patriot League) poured in a program record 23 goals to defeat Holy Cross (3-6, 0-1 Patriot League) by an eventual score of 23-6.
Kathleen Sullivan controlled the game on offense for the Black Knights, racking up a program record seven assists on her way to a ten-point effort altogether. Sullivan achieved the record with her sixth assist in the first half as Army dominated from the jump to the tune of a 15-3 lead at halftime.
Five different Black Knights secured hat tricks in the game, featuring the plebe duo of Brigid Duffy and Allison Reilly along with Carleigh Armstrong, Julia Gorajek and Sullivan. Lacey Bartholomay made nine saves in the cage for Army on 13 shots faced to pick up the win.
The 8-0 start for the Black Knights marks the longest undefeated streak to start a season in program history, as Army continues to remain as one of four undefeated teams left in the country.
It took 3:30 for a goal to be scored, as Allison Reilly got the scoring started for Army with a nifty move by the cage. Army was off and running soon after, as Duffy fed Franzoni for goal number two before Gorajek netted two within thirty second to make it a 4-0 Black Knights lead at the 8:38 mark of the quarter.
Franzoni potted her second before the end of the quarter, while Armstrong and Duffy each picked up their first tally of the game. Holy Cross was able to put two goals on the board including a woman-up score, as Duffy's goal with 16 seconds left made it an 8-2 Army lead after one.
Sullivan began to dominate in the second quarter, collecting a point on seven straight Army goals to begin the frame. She assisted to Armstrong for the second time this game, before laying off to Marissa Massey and Gorajek for scores. Sullivan scored twice as part of the 7-0 Army run, capping it off with her sixth assist of the game after passing up a free-position shot to feed an open Duffy.
The Crusaders added the final goal of the quarter, to make it a 15-3 Army lead at halftime. Army outshot Holy Cross 15-3 in the quarter altogether and went a perfect 7-for-7 on clears in the first half. Bartholomay had seven saves at the break while holding the Crusaders to just three goals.
Sullivan picked up her third goal and seventh assist in the third quarter, dishing out another helper to Madeline Lenkart which made it an 18-5 game through three. The Army plebes shined in the fourth quarter, combining for seven points on Army's five goals.
Reilly scored a pair to post her first career hat trick, with Duffy providing the assist on the first. Sarah Chernik then scored before assisting on Lily Valentini's first career tally. Valentini went on to score the record-breaking 23rd goal of the game for Army, with Margaret Williams adding the 16th assist of the game for the Black Knights.

- Allison Reilly scored a career-best three goals while matching a career-high with four points while making her fifth start of the season.
- Julia Franzoni secured a game-high seven draw controls while scoring a pair of goals on two shots. Franzoni ranks eighth in the conference with 19 goals scored and third with 52 draw controls.
- Madeline Lenkart scored her third goal of the season to go along with two ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Sarah Chernik came off the bench to score her second goal of the season and assist on another, matching a career-best with two points.
- Jolie Riedell scored her 14th goal of the season while adding a pair of assists. Riedell has contributed multiple points in seven of eight games this season.
- Lily Valentini scored her first two career goals with two tallies in the fourth quarter.
- With the 23 goals setting a single-game program record, Army's 48 shots and 31 shots on goal also marked season-highs.
