Jalen Rucker Named to NABC All-District 13 Second Team

WEST POINT, NY - Army West Point men's basketball junior Jalen Rucker was named to the NABC Division I All-District 13 Second Team, the National Association of Basketball Coaches announced on Tuesday morning.
Rucker, a junior guard from Baltimore, Maryland averaged 16.6 points this season, leading the entire Patriot League. Rucker was named to the All-Patriot League First Team following his dominant season. Rucker led Army to the fourth seed in the Patriot League Tournament, in which he was instrumental in the Black Knights' quarterfinal victory over Boston University. Rucker hit a three-pointer to send the game into overtime, eventually scoring Army's final 15 points on the way to the victory, including all 12 overtime points.Â
Rucker followed up his 32-point playoff outburst against the Terriers with a 26-point game against Colgate in the semifinal. Shooting 11-15 from the field in the game and 22-36 overall in the postseason, Rucker earned a spot on the Patriot League All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the Championship.
His biggest performance came on Jan. 5 in a win over Loyola Md., scoring a career high 35 points on 6-9 shooting from three-point. His 35 points were tied for the most in a game by Patriot League players this season. On Jan. 9, Rucker scored his 1,000th career point, becoming the 37th Army player all-time to reach the milestone. In a three-game stretch (Lafayette, Loyola, and Colgate) to start 2023, Rucker shot 13-18 (.722%) from three-point.
Rucker ranked sixth in the Patriot League with 3.6 assists per game, also leading the Black Knights in dimes. His seven assists versus Colgate in the Patriot League semifinals tied a career-high for Rucker and marked a season-high from any Black Knight.
Last season as a sophomore, Rucker was selected as a Second-Team All-Patriot League selection and was an All-Rookie selection in 2020-21.
