Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive Sit Second After First Day of Patriot League Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Army West Point men's and women's swim and dive teams are currently in second place after finishing day one of the Patriot League Championships.
In total, Army placed 12 Cadet-athletes on the podium. The men's team earned 99 points while the women's side accumulated 64 points. The Navy Midshipmen finished the night first, with a score of 147 on the men's side and 80 points on the women's side. The Black Knights broke Academy records in the 800 free relay and 200 medley relay entries.
The Men's Meet
The Black Knights started the Patriot League Championship strong with two top three finishes. Army finished third, earning the bronze in the 200-Medley Relay with a time of 1:26.73, breaking an Academy record (McKenrick, Zhang, Ellery, Zock, 1:27.19, 2019). Navy won gold with a final time of 1:25.34. Loyola followed, securing the silver with a time of 1:26.66. In the 800-Free Relay, the Midshipmen finished first with a time of 6:22.42. The Black Knights followed earning silver with a final time of 6:25.49. Army broke the Academy record previously held by Tanner Falls, Sean Dwyer, Ian Tansill, and Kevin Lin (6:27.38, 2022).
In the diving event, Navy earned the top three spots in the 3M dives, with Blake Shaw finishing first with a 363.35 score. George Moore followed, earning second with a final score of 352.95 and Anthony Sciulli earned the bronze with a score of 352.95. Army's Isaac Newman finished fourth with a final score of 344.30. Alex Zhang finished sixth with a score of 293.70.
The Women's Meet
On the women's side, the Black Knights kicked off competition with the 200-Medley Relay. Navy finished first with a time of 1:40.24. Loyola finished second with a final time of 1:40.33, and Bucknell finished third, earning bronze with a final time of 1:41.88, just edging themselves past Angela Huang, Aurelie Migault, Melinda Zhang, and Meghan Cole, finishing fourth with a final time of 1:41.90.
In the 800-Free Relay. Navy earned the top spot with a final time of 7:11.91. Clara Williams, Melinda Zhang, Molly Webber, and Kira MacMullan represented Army, earning silver with a time of 7:12.00. With their time, Williams, Zhang, Webber, and MacMullan broke the Academy Record that was previously held by Sammie Edwards, Melinda Zhang, Margaret Kroening, and Clara Williams (7:20.66, 2022). Leading off for the Black Knights in the 800-Free Relay, Clara Williams broke the Academy record for the 200-Free with a time of 1:47.52 (Williams, 1:48.13, Williams, 2022).

What's Next
The Black Knights will return to the pool for day two of the Patriot League Championship. On Thursday, February 17, starting at 10 a.m. with a prelim session and finishing the day with finals at 6 p.m. Schools will compete in the 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free, and the women's 1M Dive.
