WEST POINT, NY – Army West Point women's lacrosse (1-0, 0-0 PL) won its season and home opener on Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 19-8 victory over New Hampshire (0-1, 0-0 AE) at Michie Stadium.
The Black Knights led by a score of 17-3 through three quarters after jumping out to a double-digit lead early in the second. Army's returning core looked in midseason form early, as Kathleen Sullivan posted five first quarter points on her way to a three-goal, three-assist performance.
The attack was able to get in a rhythm early as Julia Franzoni dominated the draws, giving Army constant possession following each goal. Franzoni's 14 total draw controls marked a new single-game program record, a record in which she previously held with 13 (3-30-22 vs. Lehigh).
Lacey Bartholomay drew the start for Army, making four saves while having little to do for stretches of the first half. Sherry Feng came in on relief to make her debut, collecting three saves before making way for Lindsey Serafine for her first Army appearance.
Two plebes drew the start for the Black Knights, each logging standout performances. Allison Reilly got the nod up front alongside the distinguished upperclassmen quartet, contributing a goal and three assists. Brigid Duffy tacked on two goals as well in her debut, adding a ground ball and draw control.
