Men's Basketball Drops Road Contest to Stonehill

EASTON, Mass. – The Army West Point men's basketball team (0-2, 0-0 PL) fell to Stonehill (1-1, 0-0 NEC) 57-44 on Thursday night in Merkert Gymnasium.
The Black Knights went cold from the field and were unable to get a consistent rhythm offensively.
The first half was a competitive back and forth affair. Jared Cross got hot early, pouring in eight points.
The Black Knights were able to force nine turnovers but they were only able to score three points off of them.
They dominated the offensive boards, bringing in 10 of them in the first 20 minutes compared to just one from the Skyhawks.
There were six lead changes and five ties in the first half with neither team ever leading by more than five points.
The second half did not go the Black Knights way from the jump. The Skyhawks opened the half on a 10-0 run to race out to a 13 point lead.
The Black Knights were never able to recover and they would fall after shooting 23.53 percent from the field in the second half and 26.1 percent for the game. They took 31 threes, hitting five.
Jared Cross led the team with 11 points. He was the only Army player in double figures. Charlie Peterson had nine boards to go with seven points.
Next Army heads to Indiana to take on the Hoosiers on Sunday at 7 PM on B1G Network.
