Men's Basketball Drops Heartbreaker Against UAlbany 62-59

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's basketball team fell to 0-4 in a heartbreaking 62-59 loss to UAlbany.
It was a battle the entire game, each team held the lead nine times and it was tied nine times.
Josh Scovens had an impressive game with team-high 11 points to go with five rebounds, two blocks, one assist, and one steal.
The first half was a tale of two halves, UAlbany raced out to a 20-5 lead with 12:05 left in the first half.
Army wouldn't quit though, they proceeded to go on a 23-5 run led by six points from Josh Scovens who added two really nice blocks, five points from TJ Small and Abe Johnson and three from Dylan Blair.
Army was able to get back into the game due to only having two turnovers in the first half, limiting the Great Danes to just one point off of turnovers. The Black Knight bench was also pivotal, scoring 20 of the 28 points in the first half, UAlbany's bench only accounted for three points.
The Black Knight defense held the Great Danes to 27.6 percent shooting from the field in the first half.
It was the first time this season Army took a lead into the halftime break.
The Great Danes used an early 10-0 run in the second half to take a 37-31 lead.
The Black Knights used a 12-4 run to get back into it and take a 43-41 lead.
The game would go back and forth for the rest of the second half but in the end UAlbany's Sebastian Thomas would hit a step back corner three to go up 62-59 with 28 seconds left. That would be the final score as Army was unable to hit a three on the other end.
Army had a balanced scoring output with 10 of the 11 different Black Knights who played scoring.
The Black Knights will look to bounce back on Saturday at 2 pm when they travel to Binghamton.
