Women’s Tennis Concludes Fall Schedule at All-Academy Challenge

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Army West Point women's tennis team concluded their 2023 fall schedule this weekend at the All-Academy Challenge. The Black Knights competed against Air Force, Navy, and Georgetown.
Match Recap
Day One
On the first day of the All-Academy Challenge, Army competed against Georgetown University. The Black Knights defeated the Hoyas 8-6.
In singles, junior Paulina Feoli competed against Georgetown's Avantika Willy. Feoli defeated Willy in two sets (6-3, 6-4). Army's Carolyn Ahn came back from behind to defeat Katie Garofolo-Ro in a three-set thriller (0-6, 6-4, 10-8). Freshman Naomi Widiaman bested Emily Novikov 8-2.
Plebe Stacey Samonte defeated Georgetown's Olivia Ashton in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 10-7.
In doubles, Vennmukiil Mathivanan and Carolyn Ahn bested Paige Gilbert and Ashley Kennedy 8-2. Freshmen Stacey Samonte and Alexandra Oshidar defeated Avantika Willy and Emily Novikov 8-3.
Day Two
On the second day of competition, Army competed against Navy. The Black Knights defeated the Midshipmen 11-3.
In singles play, Army's Cooper Jackson defeated Sia Chaudry in a three-set thriller (6-4, 3-6, 10-7). Junior Jenna Sabile competed against Samantha Johns. Sabile bested Johns in two sets 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore Ylan Duong bested Parvathi Shanker 6-1, 6-2.
Junior Julia Kelly competed opposite Kate Lee. Kelly defeated Lee in two sets (7-5, 6-4). Army's Paulina Feoli bested Carly Mew 8-1.
In doubles, the Black Knights won three consecutive matches. Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans bested Stella Ribaudo and Emily Tannenbaum 8-5. Juniors Julia Kelly and Jenna Sabile defeated Sia Chaudry and Samantha Johns 8-4, and Maria Drobotova and Emily Ruckno bested Parvathi Shanker and Kate Lee 8-4.
Day Three
On the final day of competition, Army faced off against the Air Force Falcons. The Black Knights defeated the Falcons 10-2.
In singles, Sabile defeated Nadia Kojonroj 6-4, 6-2. Sophomore Emma Sy bested Gia Sanchirico in two sets (6-1, 6-0). Drobotova also saw success on the court, defeating Isabella Flodin in two sets (6-2, 6-3). Freshman Emily Ruckno bested Andrea Le 6-4, 7-5. Army's Naomi Widiaman also dominated the court, defeating Carissa Holguin in two sets (6-0, 6-2).
In doubles, the Black Knights held on to their momentum, dominating the court. Army won three consecutive matches. Jackson and Herremans defeated Isabella Flodin and Andrea Le 8-4. Kelly and Sabile bested Nadia Kojonroj and Alexis Odom 8-6. Sophomores Maria Drobotova and Isabella Brilliant defeated Joselyn Limbago and Carissa Holguin 8-0.
