Sprint Football Dominates in 63-0 Shutout of Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Army West Point Sprint football dominated its way to a 63-0 victory over Cornell.

Army raced out to an early lead with a Henry Beck 19-yard touchdown run. Shortly after Arthur Lavalais picked up right where he left off last week, finding pay dirt to put the Black Knights up 14-0. On the next drive, Mikal Willeke joined the fun, hitting Beck for a 71-yard touchdown pass to end the first quarter up 21-0.

Beck would find pay dirt for the third time on the very next drive after a 13-yard pass from Seth Brown. Willeke came back in an threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Connors to make it a 35-0 ball game. After taking a bad snap and sprinting to the opposite end of the field, Brown would get his second touchdown of the ball game. Brown would add his third touchdown of the second quarter two minutes later to make it a 48-0 game at halftime.

In the first half the Black Knights averaged 10.28 yards per play and racked up 401 total yards compared to Cornell's 82. They went a perfect 7-7 ending all their drives with touchdowns.

Scoring slowed in the second half but Kyle West was able to add two touchdown passes of his own. He found Caron Mackie for the first one and Bryson Werntz on the second one.

The 63-0 win is the largest margin of victory since Army beat Alderson Broaddus by the same score on Oct. 8, 2022. It also extends Army's win streak over Cornell to 12 games and it's the fifth shutout in the last six matchups. The Black Knights have outscored the Big Red 581-55 during the streak.

Army moves to 4-0 on the year and has outscored opponents 151-16 and haven't given up more than seven points all season. Next up, the Black Knights host St. Thomas Aquinas for the final home game of the year.
