WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Volleyball had a slow start to the second day of the Black Knight Invitational dropping the first match 3-1 to Temple, but rallied later in the day to take down UConn 3-1. Mackenzie Lynch was named to the All-Tournament Team after a outstanding weekend producing 51 kills and 11 blocks.

MATCH ONE (Temple 3-1 | 25-22, 13-25, 29-27, 25-23)
Set 1
Army led 15-13 before the Owls went on a 6-2 run. The Black Knights tied the set at 20-20 after a kill by Lynch.
After a timeout, the Owls went ahead 21-20 and eventually held off the Black Knights for a 25-22 win.
Set 2
Army tied the match after a commanding second set. The Black Knights had a sparkling .556 hitting percentage which was a match-high for both teams.
The Black Knights sprinted to a 7-2 advantage in a set they were never challenged in. Army ended the set strongly as it started the set on its way to a 25-13 win. Paige Fixemer had a set-high six kills while Lynch had a .714 hitting percentage on five kills and Savannah Bray had four kills.
Set 3
The Black Knights led throughout the third set until Temple rallied to take a 20-18 lead. Trailing 22-20, Army battled back to take a 24-23 lead and was serving for the set. The Black Knights served for the set again at 25-24, but Temple scored on a kill and an ace to regain the lead. Bray tied the set at 27-27 but the Owls collected back-to-back kills to close out the set at 29-27.
Set 4
Army built an 11-8 lead. However, the Owls reeled off a 7-2 run for a 15-13 advantage. Temple gradually increased its lead to 24-19 but Army fought off match point by scoring four straight points. The Black Knights appeared to have tied the set at 24-24 but the point was challenged with Temple winning the point and the match.

- Mackenzie Lynch led Army in kills with a career-high 18 kills.
- Paige Fixemer was second on the team in kills with 17.
- Savannah Bray added 12 kills and eight digs.
- Sayler Butters had a match-high 21 digs.
- Diana Ethridge dished out 43 assists and had eight digs.
MATCH TWO (Army 3-1 | 25-18, 29-27, 22-25, 25-17)
Set 1
Army broke a 10-10 tie by going on a 7-1 run with Mackenzie Lynch providing the bulk of the scoring through kills and blocks. The run created enough space as the Black Knights took the set, with Lynch scoring the winning point, 25-18.
Set 2
The Black Knights looked like they were going to cruise to a second set win after storming out to a 10-1 lead. The Black Knights led 18-10, but the Huskies tied the set at 21-21. UConn would later serve for the set at 25-24, but a kill by Lynch tied the set at 25-25. With the set tied at 27-27, Lynch once again provided the scoring with a kill followed by an ace to seal the set.
Set 3
UConn snagged the third set while never trailing to force a fourth set. UConn recorded eight blocks while Army had four.
Set 4
After a few early lead changes, Army seized control of the match with a 6-1 run for a 17-11 lead. Army took advantage of UConn's errors to maintain their momentum in the final stretch of the set. Lynch closed out the match with consecutive kills.Â

- Diana Ethridge recorded a double-double with a match-high 52 assists and with 12 digs.
- Mackenzie Lynch led the match with 17 kills, had nine digs, and a match-high five block assists.
- Paige Fixemer finished with 12 kills.
- Kingsley Wallace had 12 kills.
- Savannah Bray notched a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs.
- Sayler Butters had a match-high 23 digs.
- Ireland McCauley finished with 11 digs.
Army travels to Syracuse, N.Y. for the Syracuse Tournament on Sept. 8-10.Â
