BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Army West Point Women's Soccer earned a 1-1 draw on the road against No. 25 Samford Bulldogs on Thursday afternoon, holding the Bulldogs scoreless for 84 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Army's defense and Sage Strohman played crucial roles in the Black Knights' success in the first half. The Black Knights kept the nationally-ranked Bulldogs scoreless in the first half of the match. Strohman had a stellar showing in goal with four saves in the opening 45 minutes. Army's offense had some trouble keeping up with the Bulldogs but were able to match them in corner kicks, taking two in the first half. In the 22^nd minute of the match, Army was awarded a penalty but was unable to capitalize on the opportunity.

The Black Knights' offense started to come together in the second half of the contest. The Cadets recorded five shots compared to the lone shot in the first half. In the 74^th minute, Elise Urkov put the ball in the back of the net to give Army a 1-0 lead over Samford. The Bulldogs' offense continued to battle Army's defense and found the equalizer in the 85^th minute of the contest, 1-1. The Cadets stayed strong in the final minutes of the contest to earn the draw against the Bulldogs.
