Five Named To Men’s Lacrosse All-Patriot League Teams

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Army West Point men's lacrosse program had five members named to All-Patriot League teams announced on Monday. Senior attackman Brendan Nichtern and senior midfielder Bobby Abshire earned first-team honors, while junior midfielder Jacob Morin, freshman defenseman AJ Pilate, and senior short-stick defensive midfielder James Pryor were second-team selections.
Brendan Nichtern is a two-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and two-time All-Patriot League First Teamer. Nichtern leads the NCAA in assists per game (3.6) and is second in the nation in points per game (6.1). The Massapequa, N.Y. native leads the Black Knights with 35 goals and is fifth in the league in goals per game (2.5). This season, he became the program career leader in points (269) and assists (159), and the single-season record holder in points (86) and assists (51).
Bobby Abshire was named to the All-Patriot League First Team for the second straight campaign. The Commack, N.Y. native has posted career highs in goals with 22, including tying a career-high with four at then-No. 14 Syracuse, in assists with 10, and in points with 32. He also has a career-high 12 ground balls and three caused turnovers while starting in all 14 games.
Jacob Morin, a native of Auburn, N.Y., is having a career season posting 25 goals, two assists, 27 points, and 11 ground balls. He is second on the team in goals and fifth in points. Morin leads the league and is ninth in the nation in man-up goals with seven.
AJ Pilate has played in 11 games including starting in 10. He has been tasked with marking the opponent's top offensive threat. The Massapequa, N.Y. native has held his own. Pilate has 20 ground balls including a career-high four at No. 6 Rutgers in his second career game. He has nine caused turnovers which are fourth-most on the team.
James Pryor has started in all 14 games and he is part of the midfield unit that has been instrumental in controlling the game. He has 23 ground balls on the season, which ties a career-best, and are fourth on the team. His career-high 10 caused turnovers are third. Offensively, the Melville, N.Y. native has a career-high six points on three goals and three assists.
