WEST POINT, N.Y. – The No. 12 Black Knights scored three unanswered goals to beat the Coglate Raiders, 13-11, on Saturday.
GAME SUMMARY
The Black Knights once again closed the fourth quarter on a scoring flurry to pull out a win. One week after scoring three straight goals to pull out a comeback win at Bucknell, Army scored three consescutive goals in the final 2:39 to top the Raiders.
Army led 3-1 after the first quarter. Bobby Abshire scored 50 seconds into the game, before Danny Kielbasa scored both of his goals in the quarter. The teams alternated the nine goals scored in the second quarter with the Black Knights taking a 7-6 lead into halftime.
Colgate tied the game at 8-8 midway through the third quarter, but James Pryor put Army back in front with a goal with seven minutes left. Brendan Nichtern scored five minutes later for a 10-8 Army lead.
However, the Raiders did not go away as they scored three straight goals to take their first lead of the game at 11-10 with 3:56 remaining. One of the biggest plays of the game came shortly after Colgate took its first lead. Nichtern, then, took the game over. He scored the game's tying goal with 2:39 on the clock. He assisted on the go-ahead goal by Jacob Morin with 1:57 left, and provided the assist on Paul Johnson's goal in the final seconds.
