Nichtern, Schupler Pick Up Patriot League Weekly Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second time this season, Brendan Nichtern and Wyatt Schupler received Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Weekly Awards announced on Monday. Nichtern, who leads the nation in assists per game, was named offensive player of the week, and Schupler was tabbed as goalkeeper of the week after helping the then-No. 15 Black Knights to wins over Siena and NJIT.
Nichtern accounted for six goals and 11 assists for 17 points in the two games en route to his sixth career offensive player of the week award. In Army's 20-10 win over Siena, he finished with a career-high seven assists and a career-best 10 points. His seven assists are tied for the third-most in a single game in program history and are tied for the most in the nation this season. His 10 points are the third-most in a single game in program history and are tied for the second-most in the nation this season.
In the victory over NJIT, Nichtern, who played only in the first half, had a game-high four assists and scored three goals for a game-high seven points. He moved into second place on the career assists list with 125 and is now third on the career points list with 213. Nichtern also had a career-high three caused turnovers.
Wyatt Schupler made 26 saves in the two games for his eighth career goalkeeper of the week award. In the win over Siena, Schupler finished with 15 saves and a .652 save percentage. Schupler made 11 saves and allowed only one goal for a .917 save percentage while playing in only the first half against NJIT.
The No. 12 Army Black Knights (3-1) will face No. 14 Syracuse (1-2) on Wednesday, March 2 at 4:30 p.m. on the ACC Network. The Black Knights defeated the Orange, 18-11, last season.
