Nichtern, Schupler Garner Patriot League Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coming off its season-opening win, No. 10 Army had two Black Knights earned Patriot League Weekly Honors announced on Monday. Brendan Nichtern was named offensive player of the week and Wyatt Schupler was selected as goalkeeper of the week.
The reigning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and this year's preseason offensive player of the year had a dominating performance en route to his fifth career offensive player of the week award. Nichtern tied a career-high in goals with five and in points with eight while adding a game-high three assists to help lift the Black Knights to a 14-13 victory over UMass on February 12. Nichtern scored the first goal of the season to give Army an early 1-0 lead. With the game tied at 10-10 entering the fourth quarter, he scored two consecutive goals for a 12-10 lead.
Schupler, the Preseason Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, picked up his seventh career goalkeeper of the week award. Schupler set a career-high in saves with 18 in Army's season-opening victory over UMass on Saturday. Schupler came up with big saves to help the Black Knights down UMass 14-13. He had a .581 save percentage while facing 46 shots.
Army, which is ranked 10th in this week's Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and 12th in the USILA Coaches Poll, visits No. 6/8 Rutgers on Saturday, February 19 at 1 p.m.
