WEST POINT, N.Y. – Buoyed by three Black Knights in double figures kills, the Army West Point volleyball team swept the Lehigh Mountain Hawks on Friday night to start its four-match homestand.

Match Synopsis
The Black Knights controlled the first two sets on their way to a 2-0 lead, while holding off Lehigh in the third set to complete the sweep.

A kill by Julia Johnson broke a 4-4 tie in the first set as Army went on to build a 15-7 lead. The Black Knight won the set 25-20. Johnson and Savannah Bray each had four kills in the set, but it was teammate Paige Fixemer who led the way with five kills.
Fixemer led the way again in the second set, finishing with five kills. Army never trailed on its way to a 25-21 victory.

The Black Knights were pushed in the third set where they trailed for the first time in the entire match at 19-18. Trailing 20-18, Army reeled off five straight points. Army tied the set with kills by Bray and Johnson. The Black Knights added three more points with Bray providing two of them, for a 23-20 lead.

Lehigh battled back to tie the set at 24-24, but an service error opened the door for the Black and Gold. A ball handling error by Lehigh ended the match in favor of the Black Knights.

Cadets Capsules

Savannah Bray had a double-double with a match-high 14 kills and added 12 digs.
Paige Fixemer had 12 kills and a match-high three block assists.
Julia Johnson added 12 kills on a career-high 33 attacks, and had seven digs.
Diana Ethridge led the match in assists with 44.

Inside the Numbers

Army extended its win streak to four matches.
Alma Kovaci Lee is three wins away from 300 career wins.
The Black Knight have won 13 of the last 14 meetings with the Mountain Hawks including seven straight.
The 53 kills, 51 assists, and 60 digs are the most in a three-set match this season.
