Home Swing
- The Black Knights resume action at Michie Stadium after defeating UConn 52-21 last weekend.
- Saturday's game will close out a three-game home stand for the Cadets, who will look to complete the spurt in winning fashion.
- With the result against the Huskies, the team extended its triumphant streak at home to 12 games.
- The streak dates back to the 2019 season, as the team posted an 8-0 mark on Blaik Field in 2020. In addition to the perfect record, last season's efforts at Michie Stadium were highlighted by wins over both Navy and Air Force as the team went on to capture the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy for the third time in four years.
Out of the Gate
- Army is one of 34 FBS programs in the nation that has yet to lose a game this season. For the first time since 2016, the Black Knights have started the season 3-0.
- In the early span, the Cadets have outscored their opponents 133-66 and have limited opposing offenses to 250-yards-or-less on two separate occasions.
- Of the nation's undefeated teams, two of them are on the Black Knights' 2021 docket: Liberty and Wake Forest.
When Teammates Become Opponents
- Army West Point head coach Jeff Monken will see a familiar face on the opposing sideline during this weekend's game, as he and Miami Ohio's head coach Chuck Martin were teammates at Millikin University.
- Monken, who played wide receiver and earned two varsity letters in track and field, graduated from Millkin in 1989 while Martin, a former All-American safety and baseball star for the Big Blue, completed his degree a year later.
- In his weekly press conference, Monken made the following comment about his former teammate: "Chuck Martin does such a tremendous job there with being the conference champion two years ago. He always fields a tough, physical competitive team. Doesn't matter who they're playing, they play those BIG 10 teams. They're just slugging it out with those guys."
Under Center
- Senior quarterback Christian Anderson has been having arguably his strongest season yet as a Cadet and has shined in the team's first three games.
- After serving as a backup in the team's opener at Georgia State, he has earned the starting nod against both Western Kentucky and UConn.
- In the three-game span, he has thrown three touchdown passes of 39-yards-or-more and recently recorded the third multi-TD game of his career when he struck twice against the Huskies.
- Anderson's first rushing touchdown this past Saturday was the 10th of his career, nudging him into the double-digits. The Bronx native has reached the end zone in four of his past six career appearances.
Series History
- This will be the seventh meeting in the history between the two teams, which is currently tied at 3-3.
- The Black Knights and the RedHawks' first-ever meeting was on Oct. 29, 1960 at Michie Stadium. Army earned a decisive, 30-7 victory over the visiting team. That season, the Cadets earned a 5-1 record on their home field.
- In 2018, Army snapped its three-game losing streak against the RedHawks after falling in 2011, 1998 and 1997 with a thrilling, 31-30 win in double-overtime. In that contest, the Black Knights' defensive unit was the difference-maker as it prevented Miami's last-minute attempt at a two-point conversion, thus preserving the lead for the Cadets.
- Overall, Army leads the series in points having scored 143 compared to the RedHawks' 131. The Black Knights have limited the RedHawks to two touchdowns or less on three separate occasions.
 The RedHawks at a Glance
- Miami is coming off its first win of the season, having defeated LIU 42-7 on its home field in Oxford, Ohio. The win was a welcomed reprieve for the RedHawks, who started off the year 0-2 after falling to Cincinnati (14-49) and Minnesota (26-31).
- In the win over the Sharks, the RedHawks put up 523 yards, marking the team's first time this year with more than 500. Miami was pretty even in its attack, recording 229 yards on the ground and throwing for 294 yards. Defensively, the program also had a strong game as DL Lonnie Phelps had two sacks and DB Matthew Salopek made 10 tackles. Â
- The program will look to continue its recent success through this season, having finished each of its last three campaigns at .500 or better. In 2021, Miami will also look to make its first appearance in a Bowl game since the 2016 season, when the RedHawks played in the St. Petersburg Bowl.
- Army will be the RedHawks' last non-conference opponent, as the team will move into its MAC slate following the trip to West Point. Miami will open up league play on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Central Michigan.
