Men's Soccer Drops Contest to Lafayette, 2-1

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's soccer team fell 2-1 to visiting Lafayette on Saturday evening at Malek Stadium.
The Black Knights (0-3) outshot Lafayette (5-0), 13-9 on Saturday evening and battled down the stretch to score the equalizer, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Lafayette got on the board quickly, scoring in just the second minute of the game, as Hale Lombard hammered home a shot off a rebound and the Black Knights were in a 1-0 hole early.
The Black Knights battled throughout the rest of the first half, outshooting the Leopards, 6-4 and drawing two corner kick opportunities and none for the Leopards.
In the 60th minute of play, Lafayette took advantage of a booming throw that landed in the box and the Black Knights were unable to clear, as an eventual own-goal put the Leopards up, 2-0.
In the 87th minute Oscar Pereira converted on a penalty kick opportunity to pull the Black Knights within one, 2-1.
The Black Knights continued to look for the equalizer through the final three minutes of the game, but it was too little too late.

The Black Knights are set to be back in action next Saturday, April 10 against Boston U.
