Baseball Splits at Lafayette

The Black Knights (16-15, 10-6 Patriot League) outhit the Leopards (10-13, 9-11 Patriot League) 33-16 over both games, with 16 hits in in game one and 17 in game two.
Jeremiah Adams was outstanding on the day, going 7-for-8 with six runs scored, three RBI, including one triple and two doubles and one walk.
Game one was a back-and-forth affair. The Black Knights jumped out to an early 5-2 lead before the Leopards put up seven runs in the bottom of the fourth off starter Anthony Loricco.
The Army offense answered right back, putting up four in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game up, 9-9.
However, the Leopards answered right back with a four spot of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 13-9 lead off reliever Trevor Finan.
Once again, the Army offense answered right back with four more in the top of the seventh inning to tie things up, 13-13.
In the shortened seven-inning first game of the double header, the Black Knights ran out of time unfortunately, as the Leopards plated one run in the bottom of the seventh off reliever Ben DeLaubell who took the loss as the Black Knights fell, 14-13.
Overall, on the day, the Black Knights were also hampered by three errors in game one that extended innings for the Leopards.
The offense exploded in game two however, where it was all Black Knights, outhitting the Leopards, 17-3 in the 16-1 victory.
Starter Robbie Buecker tossed a complete game, allowing just one run on three hits with two walks and nine strikeouts.
The offense was led by Ross Friedrick, who had four hits on the day, while Blake Ledoux had a team-high five RBI. Adams was once again outstanding with three hits.
Overall, on the day, eight of nine in the lineup had at least one hit, with five having multi-hit days and three having multi-RBI performances. The Black Knights did all that with no home runs in the game.
The Black Knights are back in action to host the Leopards for two more games starting Saturday, April 24 at 2 p.m. ET at Doubleday Field.
