Nichtern Named 3x Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week; Hudgins Tabs Defensive Award

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Patriot League Conference released their weekly awards Monday afternoon and the Army West Point men's lacrosse team tabbed at least two award winners for the third consecutive week.
Brendan Nichtern was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Week for his third straight week after tallying three goals and three assists in Army's 12-10 victory over Boston University on Saturday. Nichtern scored at least three goals for the third consecutive game and tops the offensive leader board for the Black Knights in both goals (13) and assists (12) for a team high 25 points. The junior captain is currently tied for ninth nationally in assists per game (3) and ninth in points per game (6.25).
Hudgins grabbed his first weekly award of the year this week after recording a season high five caused turnovers and five ground balls against the Terriers. The junior defenseman was key in helping the Black Knights defense to stifle the Terriers offense in the final 10 minutes of the game when Army was only holding onto a one-goal lead. He is currently tied for 16th nationally in caused turnovers per game (2.5). Hudgins leads the Black Knights in caused turnover with 10 total and second in ground balls with 11.
Army holds on to their No. 6 national ranking with a 3-1 overall record heading into their fifth weekend of competition. The Black Knights will welcome Colgate University to Michie Stadium on Saturday, Mar. 13 for a 1 p.m. contest.
