WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Authentic, Army West Point Athletics growing memorabilia initiative, is excited to offer fans a chance to bid on an autographed photo from Army West Point men's basketball icons and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famers, Bob Knight and Mike Krzyzewski ('69), two of the top-five winningest head coaches in NCAA Division I men's basketball history.
Knight began his coaching career at West Point and authored a 102-50 record during his six seasons (1965-71) at West Point. He guided the Black Knights to four trips to the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) (1966, 1968, 1969, 1970). He went on to coach at Indiana University from 1971-2000 where he led the Hoosiers to three national titles. He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1991.
Krzyzewski was coached by Knight during his time as a Cadet from 1967-69. He played in two NITs (1968 and 1969) including captaining the 1969 team. He served as Army West Point head coach from 1975-80 posting a 73-59 record including an appearance in the 1978 NIT. Krzyzewski has been the head coach at Duke University since 1980 where he has led the Blue Devils to five national titles. Krzyzewski, who is the all-time winningest head coach in NCAA Division I men's basketball history, will retire after the 2021-22 season. He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001.
