Kirk Earns Field Athlete of the Week Honors

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Army throwers added another recipient to the weekly honors list as junior Geoff Kirk has been named Patriot League Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
Kirk has been dominant in the shot put this season, recording the top four throws in the Patriot League thus far this year. He opened the season with an Army record throw of 18.36 meters at the Crowell Open. This past weekend, his 17.59 meter toss was fourth in the league, with Kirk also holding the second and third best. Teammate Michael Renard is next in line with a 17.40 meter top mark. Kirk will look to carry this momentum into the Army-Navy Star Meet, where he won the shot put a season ago with what was then a program record of 17.94 meters.Â
In addition to Kirk, sophomore Emily Mikoud earned honorable mention for her performance in the weight throw this weekend. Mikoud had won the previous two Female Field Athlete of the Week awards.Â
The Army-Navy Star Meet will take place on Saturday with the men's competition kicking the action off at 11 a.m.Â
