Men's Lacrosse 15th in USILA Preseason Poll

WEST POINT, N.Y. - With the 2020 season right around the corner, the Army West Point men's lacrosse team has been slated 15th in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Preseason Poll with 96 votes, announced on Tuesday.
The Black Knights are coming off a record setting 13-win season and their second Patriot League Championship under head coach Joe Alberici. Army returns a wealth of the roster for 2020 including a majority of its offensive production in Brendan Nichtern (30 g, 50 a, 80 pts.), Miles Silva (39 g), Sean O'Brien (21 g, 12 a, 33 pts.) and Matt Manown (19 g, 14 a, 33 pts.). The Cadets have some holes to fill on the defensive side of the ball returning long poles Tom Rigney (51 gb, 12 ct) and Marcus Hudgins (35 gb, 15 ct).
The Black Knights made their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2010 last year and for the 20th time in program history. Army received an automatic bid after claiming the Patriot League Championship with an 11-7 victory over Lehigh.
Army opens the season on Feb. 8 with a home contest against UMass who is 19th in the poll. Also recognized in the preseason rankings on Army's schedule are No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 8 Syracuse, No. 14 Loyola and No. 20 Lehigh. Also receiving votes on the Cadets' schedule are Rutgers (24), Navy (6) and Bucknell (4).
