Army Falls to Tournament Host Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - The Army West Point volleyball team was defeated for the first time in the 2019 season after falling to No. 20 Hawai'i 3-1 at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational.Â
The Black Knights made the Rainbow Wahine fight for every inch in the match, winning the first set to jump out to a 1-0 lead. The tournament hosts bounced right back, taking the final three sets to improve their record to 4-0. The match saw tremendous defensive performances from both teams, as each side recorded over 80 digs in four sets.Â
Coming off her MVP performance at the Army Invitational, Hawai'i native Ana Oglivie posted a match-high 22 digs. Senior Sydney Morriss was the team's top offensive player, recording 13 kills in the match. Captain Courtney Horace posted another double-digit kills game, recording 11 and a team-best .219 hitting percentage.Â
Hawai'i was led by junior Skyler Williams who tied Morriss with 13-kills and posting an impressive .417 hitting percentage.Â
The Cadets return to action tomorrow as the take on Denver at 10:45 PM ET as part of the second day of action in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Honolulu.Â
