McGraw Named to Mac Hermann Trophy Watch List
August 01, 2019 | Men's Soccer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior defender Zac McGraw of the Army West Point men's soccer team was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List for the second consecutive season on Thursday afternoon.
The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year's winners will be announced in early January at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
As a three-time All-Patriot League First Team performer and two-time All-Atlantic Region First Team selection, McGraw was a defensive stalwart for the Black Knights in his third year and aided the team in its run in the Patriot League Tournament. His efforts on the defensive end helped the Cadets post back-to-back shutouts in the tournament for the first time in program history. The Torrance, Calif., native played a major role in Army's 1-0 victory in Baltimore over No. 23 Loyola in the semifinals, which put the cadets into the championship match for the first time since 1996.
McGraw joins fellow Patriot League standouts, Brian Saramago and Barry Sharifi of Loyola on the exclusive list that is comprised of 36 of the top male soccer players in Division I.
The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Men's and Women's NCAA Division I All-America Committees. Fifteen semifinalists will be named for both the men's and women's MAC Hermann Trophy near the end of the college season based on voting by NCAA Division I coaches and from those candidates, three finalists will ultimately be placed on the ballot for the coveted award.
