Joyner, Peck Collect Major Awards from League

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Sophomore Ana Joyner and head coach Paul Peck of the Patriot League Champion Army West Point women's tennis team collected player and coach of the year honors for the second straight seasons when the league announced its postseason awards on Wednesday afternoon.
Joyner becomes the third player in league history to be named the Patriot League Player of the Year as both a freshman and a sophomore, joining Annie Houghton (2008 & '09) and Boston University's Johanna Hyoty (2015 & '16). Peck added his 16th Patriot League Coach of the Year recognition after leading the Black Knights to their second consecutive and 15th overall league title. The Cadets boast a record of 22-7 in 2019, their most wins since 2014.
Joyner earned first team honors for the second straight season, while senior captain Kirby Einck posted her third all-league selection and second as a first team honoree.
Joyner remained a constant in the top singles flight for the Black Knights, posting an overall record of 18-13 in singles action. The Las Cruses, N.M., native went 2-0 in the Patriot League Tournament at the No. 1 position with wins over Navy in the semifinals and Boston U. in the championship match. She moved into a tie for sixth in program history with Allyson Toce with 21 wins at the No. 1 singles position.
Einck led the Black Knights with her consistent play in both singles and doubles throughout the year. The Geneva, Ill., native combined to go 26-7 on the year with an 11-3 singles record and a 15-4 mark in doubles play. She compiled a 3-0 record in the top singles flight while going 4-1 at both the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Einck produced a 4-1 overall record in the Patriot League tournament with a perfect 2-0 mark in singles and 2-1 in doubles. She moved into the program's top-10 with 69 career singles victories, while her 76 doubles wins is one shy of matching Margaret Iliev and Nancy Porter for ninth in program history.
The Black Knights make their 15th appearance at the NCAA Tournament at 8 p.m. ET today when they take on the the No. 10 ranked Huskies of Washington.
