COACH'S CORNER
- Interim head coach Bob Beretta – "We did a nice job of taking care of business today. We received solid pitching all day and our offense generated some runs in both games. We were able to rest a few players and we had some other individuals step forward with solid performances. A lot of credit goes to Renee Poirier. She was very good in the circle in both games and soaked up a lot of innings for us, which we really needed. She gave up one runs in the first inning of the first game and really settled in after that.
- "It was nice to see Madi Gilmore back healthy in the lineup and contributing. I thought she registered some quality at bats and put a few nice swings on the ball. I also thought Izzy Gates had a solid day on both sides of the ball. I can't say enough about the effort she puts forth on a daily basis. She works very hard at her craft in practice every day, and she was able to transfer that work into the games today. Izzy did a nice job attacking the bases on offense and provided her usual stellar defense.
- "We did a nice job of manufacturing some runs after Rider pulled within 3-2 in the second game. Ashley Yoo's bunt single was key to the rally and really set things up nicely for us. Stretching the lead from one run to four proved critical in the end. We wanted to work on some things today with an eye towards this weekend's big series in Boston. We were able to accomplish that and picked up two wins along the way. It's not easy to sweep doubleheaders, so we will enjoy these results tonight and come back ready to work hard in practice tomorrow."
