Surdick Top Defensive Pick in PLL Draft

STAMFORD, Conn. -- In the inaugural Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) College Draft on Tuesday night, Johnny Surdick was the top overall defensive pick. The senior defender was the sixth overall choice by the PLL Chaos.
The PLL is a brand new league created by the world's best lacrosse players and launches on June 1st.
Surdick, who hails from Odenton, Md., is a two-time Patriot League Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and has been named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for the last two seasons.
The senior defender ranks atop the Patriot League and nation in caused turnovers per game (2.31) all while guarding the opponent's top offensive weapon. Throughout his career, Surdick has amassed 165 ground balls and 97 caused turnovers in just 57 games played.
Army's top pick in any lacrosse draft was in 2015 when attacker John Glesener was chosen fifth in the Major Lacrosse League College Draft.
