McMullen Leads The Charge At Princeton
April 20, 2019 | Women's Track and Field
PRINCETON, N.J - The Army West Point women's track and field team competed at the Princeton Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday.Â
The day was highlighted by another record setting performance by junior Calli McMullen. The standout sprinter was all over the leaderboard, posting an Academy best 24.12 mark in the 200m dash, besting her own record by .01 seconds. McMullen also anchored the victorious 4x100m relay team and placed third in the 400m dash.Â
COACH'S CORNER: Head Coach Mike Smith
"We had some weather issues that forced us to do some shuffling around, but the women did a nice job of adapting and we had some nice improvements.Â
Our women's 4x100Â looked great today. Handoffs were pretty good and they had a nice win.Â
Calli McMullen stole the show today. She ran a really nice 400m race and will go much faster in that race later on. That put her second on the all-time list. I know she wants to break the school record in that event. It is only a matter of time before she takes that down. Then she broke her own record in the 200 with a wind legal 24.12. She is going to go well under 24 seconds when things warm up in the next few weeks.Â
We had some solid marks in the field and on the track that have us pointed in the right direction. We will compete a few people at the Penn Relays and the majority of the team will focus their attention on the Patriot League Championship in two weeks."Â

Women's 200m Dash: Calli McMullen - 24.12 (Program Record)Â
