Army Closes Out Bison Classic
April 14, 2019 | Women's Track and Field
LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Army West Point women's track and field team closed out the second and final day of the Bison Outdoor Classic with a solid showing on Sunday.Â
The Black Knights posted several contending finishes on the day including four top five finishes. Junior Lynne Mooradian placed in the top ten in both hurdle events, finishing fourth in the 400 meter hurdles and sixth in the 100 meter hurdles.Â
COACH'S CORNER: Head Coach Mike Smith
"Great conditions last night set the table for our women and they took advantage of the opportunity. We did not compete our entire team today as we build towards the conference meet, but our middle distance and distance runners needed a test and they responded well to the challenge.Â
We had a lot of improvements and great competitive efforts out there. The highlight by far was Abby Halbrook in the 1500. She has been chasing our school record for three years now and she finally got it. This is one that she had marked down for quite some time. She hung in there with the fast pace and brought her usual finishing kick. I am sure it was a relief for her and now she can go out and keep lowering that time.Â
We had plenty of other good marks today in the 800s and in the throws, especially from our plebes. Abigail Green has shown some nice consistency in the hammer and will have another breakthrough soon and Anna Tovkach is starting to figure out the pacing of races and will keep getting better and better.Â
On the whole, we did a nice job yesterday and today and I like the way we handled ourselves."Â
