COACH'S CORNER
Interim Head Coach Bob Beretta – "It was nice to come back and beat Jacksonville State today after losing to them on Friday. We fell behind early and battled back on two separate occasions, which was great to see. We did a nice job of capitalizing on a few of their misplays in the seven-run fourth and were able to take control of the game at that point. Madi Gilmore gave us a huge lift with a two-run home run in the second to tie the game for her first collegiate hit which was great to see. She gave us terrific at bats all day long.
"We let one slip away against Mercer in the second game, and that was disappointing. We had some breaks go against us after jumping out to an early lead, we just didn't generate enough offensively over the last few innings. I'm excited for our team to get back on the field tomorrow. It will be another opportunity to improve together as a unit as we wrap up the weekend against a Big Ten opponent in Rutgers. We are looking forward to that challenge."
