Nichtern, Surdick Recognized by Patriot League

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Brendan Nichtern and Johnny Surdick of the Army West Point men's lacrosse team both earned weekly honors by the Patriot League, announced Monday.
For the second consecutive week, Nichtern was voted the Patriot League Rookie of the Week. He posted his second game-winning goal against a ranked opponent on Saturday. Nichtern also led Army's offense with three goals and an assist to total four points.
Nichtern is tied for third in the country in total points this season with 12. He is first among freshman by four tallies.
Surdick paced Army's defense in its upset victory over #8/10 Rutgers and was named the Defensive Player of the Week. The Scarlet Knights averaged 16.5 goals per game heading into the weekend, but the Black Knights held their opponent to nine in the game.
Surdick registered a team-leading four caused turnovers and posted three ground balls to limit Rutgers' offensive production.
The Cadets host Marist Tuesday for their home opener at Michie Stadium. The game is free for all fans and begins at 3 p.m.
