Four Hat Tricks Lift Army Past Hudson Valley Rival

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Eight different Cadets found the back of the net as the Army West Point women's lacrosse team captured an 18-9 victory over Hudson Valley rival Marist on Wednesday at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field.
The Black Knights' (2-0) offensive barrage continued as four Cadets tallied a hat trick opposite the Red Foxes (0-1). Cameron Manor made her first appearance of the year in her second season with the squad and led all goal scorers with a career-high four. Samantha Stewart, Manuela Cortes and Jackie Brattan each recorded a hat trick as well, while Megan Raftery added a pair of scores.
Caroline Raymond was the team's primary facilitator, dishing out five assists in just her second collegiate contest. Also aiding in the Black Knights scoring efforts was Olivia Carter, who tallied her first career goal, and handed out a pair of helpers.

- The 36 goals scored over Army's last two contests tied a program record for back-to-back games, a feat which was originally set last season.
- The Black Knights also tied a single-game program record as four Cadets tallied a hat trick.
- Manor registered her first goal and hat trick of the season.

- The junior added a pair of ground balls and five draw controls.
- Brattan recorded her second-straight hat trick.
- She posted a career-high eight draw controls.
- The sophomore tied teammate Rilee Scott for fifth in all-time scoring with 30 goals.
- She additionally moved past Kelsea Krauss for eighth all-time points with 32.
- Cortes had her second-consecutive hat trick.
- Raftery tallied her second-straight multi-goal outing.
- Raymond's five assists tied the program record for most in a single game.
- The freshman tied Kiersten Spencer and Kelsea Krauss for eighth in all-time assists charts as well.
- Beth Hofmann and Juliana Dworschak scored their first goals of the season.
- Maddie Burns made 11 saves in between the pipes, tying Kayla Rowley for the seventh-most in single-game program history.
- Lauren Bredenburg had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- The Black Knights were a perfect 15-of-15 on clear attempts.
- Army improved to 2-1 all-time versus Marist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marist held a 9-3 advantage in shots during the opening 14 minutes and broke the scoreless game with a goal at 15:23. The Black Knights did not waste any time and countered with a 7-1 run that was highlighted by a Stewart hat trick and a pair of scores by Manor.
- The Red Foxes found their rhythm late in the half and scored a trio of goals in the closing 1:49 to make it a two-point game, 7-5, entering the half.
- After trading scores in the opening portion of the second half, the Black Knights' offense caught fire and Army went on a 9-0 run with six different Cadets tallying a score over nearly a 17-minute stretch.
- Burns and the Black Knights' defense played a pivotal role during that time. The junior goalie kept the Red Foxes off the board by denying all four shots on goal.
- Marist eventually broke through and put in three unanswered goals, but the Army lead proved to be too much as the Cadets sealed the 18-9 road victory.
