WEST POINT, N.Y. – Junior Mika Andrews of Army West Point women's cross country, junior Luca Manzetti of men's cross country, senior Sam Sullivan of women's rugby and senior Darryl Johnson of men's rugby were named the Corps Squad Scholar Athletes of the Month for October.

- The Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., native holds a cumulative GPA of 3.739, reflecting excellence in all pillars. She recently received the Master of the Sword Award from DPE.

- "Mika has been a significant contributor for our cross country program since she arrived on campus in the fall of 2017," head coach Mike Smith said. "She has embraced the challenges of Academy life and is an example of how hard work and determination can lead to success. Her academic success has gone hand-in-hand with her athletic prowess and she is a beacon of optimism on our team. Her competitive spirit is fierce, and she has emerged as one of our leaders."
LUCA MAZZANTI

HIGHLIGHTS
- Mazzanti is an Engineering Major who held a semester GPA of 3.831 last term.
- The Santa Rosa, Calif., native holds a cumulative GPA of 3.585, reflecting excellence in not just academics but military and physical pillars as well.
- Named to Patriot League Academic Honor Roll
- He competed at the Army-Navy dual and the Patriot League Championships during last year's cross country season, where he placed inside the top-25.
- He won the 3000m at the Crowell Open last year and was a member of the second- lace distance medley relay team at the Penn State National Invitational.
- Mazzanti is a member of three Patriot League Championship teams (2018 & 2019 Cross-Country Champions, 2019 Indoor Track Champions)
- His 3.5 military program score reflects outstanding leadership and dedication to his military duties.

- "Luca's aptitude has been apparent since his arrival," Smith said. "He manages to excel in almost any subject matter and has earned the success that has come his way in the academic arena. He has recently elevated his athletic performance level and has become one of our consistent performers in both cross country and track. He has embraced the challenges that have been set before him here at West Point and is emerging as a star in all aspects of the Academy experience. "
SAM SULLIVAN

Major: Computer Science

HIGHLIGHTS
- Sullivan is one of three females majoring in Computer Science for the class of 2020.
- She currently maintains a 3.644 cumulative GPA and has made the Dean's List every semester here at the Academy.
- This past spring for the Army 7s, she finished with team-highs in tries (33) and total points (167).
- She additionally was named the Tournament MVP at the Collegiate Rugby Championships.
- During the fall 2018 15s season, she led the Black Knights with tries (10) and total points (50).
- The Fayetteville, N.C., native was twice recognized as an NIRA 15s All-American (2017 & 2018), as well as winning the inaugural Prusmack Award by the United States Rugby Foundation as the top female collegiate 7s player in the country.
DARRYL JOHNSON

Major: Mechanical Engineering

HIGHLIGHTS
- Johnson maintains a 3.272 cumulative GPA as a mechanical engineering major.
- He has consistently displayed a heightened level of influence to the academic development of the entire team.
- He is the CIC (cadet in charge) of the Rugby Academic Mentorship Program (RAMP).
- In this role, he established the program and foundational guidelines to identify at-risk players, with a focus on peer mentorship and personalized development plans to address deficiencies.
- Importantly, this was designed as a whole-person approach facilitating open dialogue across all pillars of academic, physical, and military as well as personal health and wellbeing.
- Johnson's contributions as a consistent supporter of the team on the pitch and off the field, combined with his team-first approach, make him an excellent role model as a Scholar Athlete.
