Cadets Fall To Colgate 3-1
October 06, 2019 | Volleyball
WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point volleyball team dropped its home match against Colgate 3-1 on Sunday.Â
The Black Knights (11-6, 2-2) struggled to get things going in this one, hitting at a .184 percentage in the match. Colgate was led by an impressive performance by junior outside hitter Ali Lowe, who led the match with 20 kills.Â
"Colgate is a good team and they are at the top of the conference for a reason," Head coach Alma Kovaci Lee said. "We played well at times but we just did not do it consistently enough to win."Â
Army's defense kept the team in the match, as the team out-digged Colgate 83-74. That effort was led by senior outside hitter Sydney Morriss recorded a career-best 19 digs. Allie Strong posted 18 digs along with 10 kills to record the team's only double-double. Courtney Horace was strong on the attack in this one, tying for the match-lead with 20 kills of her own.Â
"We just made too many mistakes today," Kovaci Lee said. "The errors were the difference in the match. That's something we'll have to fix in practice as we move forward to our next matches."Â
Army will now head on the road for their first road trip of the conference play season, beginning with a match at Bucknell on Oct. 11 at 7 pm.Â
