WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point volleyball team fell, 3-2, Friday night in a tough matchup against Lehigh.

The Black Knights went up 2-1 in the match, but two-straight set wins by the Mountain Hawks helped them prevail over the Cadets.

Senior captain Courtney Horace led Army with a career-high performance of 22 kills and 14 digs. The night marked her first-career double-double.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST SET (Lehigh 25, Army 23)
- It was a tight set throughout with eight tie scores and three lead changes.
- Both teams wanted it, but the Mountain Hawks snuck away with the set, 25-23.
- Sydney Morriss led the way with five kills and a .444 hitting percentage, while Horace and Monica Eckford each had three.
- The Black Knights produced more kills than Lehigh (20-13), but six hitting errors plagued Army.
SECOND SET (Army 25, Lehigh 21)
- Army bounced back in the second set with a well-rounded effort.
- The Cadets jumped out with a lead straight away and never allowed Lehigh to pass them.
- Nikki Lum paced the offense with seven assists as Horace, Morriss and Eckford led the way with four kills apiece.
THIRD SET (Army 25, Lehigh 22)
- The third set was all about Army again.
- Horace had a standout performance in the frame with nine kills and even added four digs.
- Cate Buckingham came off the bench for the Black Knights to contribute four kills.
- Army hit .195 in the set over the Mountain Hawks' .121.
FOURTH SET (Lehigh 25, Army 23)
- The fourth set was a battle with 13 tie scores and seven lead changes, the most in the entire match.
- Horace continued to lead from the floor with five kills and a .273 hitting percentage.
- Emmy Barnhorst and Morriss were each credited with solo blocks in the set.
- Lehigh went on to win the fourth, 25-23, to force a fifth set.
FIFTH SET (Lehigh 15, Army 10)
- Army started the set strong and reached the eight-point mark first, but a 9-2 run by the Mountain Hawks gave them the set and match.
- Lehigh was strong offensively with a .300 team hitting percentage over Army's .111.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Horace recorded career-highs in two categories tonight.
- The junior captain notched 22 kills and added 14 digs which also marked her first-career double-double.
- Morriss hit .364 on the night with 16 kills and was followed by Eckford with 10 kills at .304.
- Morriss also recorded a team-high five blocks.
- Lum dished out 34 assists tonight, while Hannah Presley tallied 29.
- Ana Oglivie produced a team-best three service aces and 21 digs.
- Multiple Black Knights recorded double-digit digs including Lum (14), Buckingham (13) and Allie Strong (11).
