HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST SET (Colgate 25, Army 19)
- The Raiders jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first set, but four-straight points by the Black Knights brought the score within two.
- Army took a 10-9 lead fueled by a kill by Emmy Barnhorst and ace by Ana Oglivie.
- However, Colgate fought back for a 21-16 advantage in the set.
- The Raiders outscored the Cadets 4-3 in the final points to clinch it.
SECOND SET (Colgate 25, Army 12)
- Colgate commanded the second set with the Black Knights tying the score just once.
- Army was unable to gain momentum and the Raiders closed-out the set with an 8-3 run holding the Cadets to 12 points.
THIRD SET (Colgate 25, Army 23)
- The Black Knights turned things around in the third set which featured 11 tie scores and five lead changes.
- Back-to-back points from Courtney Horace and Barnhorst pushed Army to a 16-13 edge over Colgate.
- The Raiders chipped away at the lead and tied things up at 19-all.
- Hannah Presley and Sydney Morriss recorded kills before another ace by Oglivie gave the Cadets a 22-19 lead.
- Colgate outscored the Black Knights 6-1 to close-out the set and clinch the match.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Horace led the Black Knights with eight kills and added three digs.
- Barnhorst tallied seven kills and Monica Eckford followed with six.
- Nikki Lum notched 17 assists and eight digs.
- Presley contributed 16 assists, while Oglivie had 19 digs and two service aces.
