Whiteman Tabbed AWPAA Athlete of the Week
September 18, 2018 | Men's Soccer
After scoring a trio of goals this past week to help the Army West Point men's soccer team go 2-0 and extend its unbeaten streak to four games, sophomore Eric Whiteman was named the Army West Point Athletic Association (AWPAA) Athlete of the Week.
Whiteman becomes the first Cadet-Athlete from the men's soccer team this season to earn the award.
In a 3-0 victory over Siena on Tuesday afternoon, Whiteman got Army on the board with his first collegiate goal. The Elgin, Ill., native later added an insurance score in the contest. On Saturday, Army held a 1-0 lead over Mount St. Mary's in the second half before Whiteman got a touch on a ball off a Keenan O'Shea corner and put it into the back of the net for his third tally of the week.
Whiteman and the Black Knights will return to the pitch tomorrow night for a 7 p.m. matchup at Fairfield.
