Whiteman Powers Cadets Past Siena
September 11, 2018 | Men's Soccer
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Behind a pair of first-half scores by sophomore Eric Whiteman, the Army West Point men's soccer team defeated Siena, 3-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Siena Turf Field.
The Black Knights (2-2-1) continued their unbeaten streak versus the Saints (0-3-3) and claimed its second road victory of the season. The Cadets are now 7-0-1 opposite Siena.
"We needed to show a collective effort today and we did," head coach Russell Payne said. "It was great to see guys step up and contribute as almost everybody played today. Eric did a great job on both sides of the ball and it was great to see Carter (Kowalewski) get his first goal. But, even more importantly, as a team, we showed a great connectivity and a real sense of purpose."
Justin Stoll quieted the Saints' attack, making four stops in between the pipes for the Black Knights to preserve the shutout for his first of the year.
