WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Hofstra Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST SET (Hofstra 26, Army 24)
- The Black Knights had an incredible start to the match with a 7-3 advantage.
- Hofstra stayed composed however and fought back to take a 15-14 lead.
- With the set knotted at 22-all, the Pride were able to outscore the Black Knights 4-2 to claim the set 26-24.
- Army's offense was very balanced with six players posting two kills apiece.
SECOND SET (Hofstra 25, Army 21)
- The second was as close as the first with 11 tie scores and six lead changes throughout.
- Monica Eckford had a standout set for Army with six kills and a .333 hitting percentage.
- She and Lisa Sullivan worked together to give the Black Knights two blocks.
- The Black Knights went ahead 21-19, but a 6-0 run by the Pride gave them the set advantage to go up 2-0 in the match.
THIRD SET (Hofstra 25, Army 23)
- Army and Hofstra battled to the end once again, but the Pride were able to pull out the set and match win.
- The Black Knights fought back with a block by Eckford and Morriss.
- Horace then stepped in to garner a big kill giving Army a 23-21 advantage.
- Hofstra would rally though and clinch the set 25-23 and the match 3-0.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Horace and Eckford led Army with nine kills on the night.
- Lauren Janok posted 12 assists in the match.
- Oglivie notched nine digs, while Allie Strong finished with six.
- On the weekend, Horace posted 3.00 kills per set and had a .246 hitting percentage.
- Oglivie averaged 4.45 digs per set and totaled six service aces to lead the Black Knights.

- The Black Knights will travel to Kingston, R.I., next Friday and Saturday for the URI Invitational. They will face the hosting Rams in the opening match (11 a.m.) and Yale (4 p.m.) on Friday. Saturday will feature a matchup opposite New Hampshire (4 p.m.).
