Men's Soccer Announces Class of 2022

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point head men's soccer coach Russell Payne announced his recruiting class of 2022 on Monday afternoon.
"Our staff has done an outstanding job in identifying and bringing some of the highest level players to the Army West Point men's soccer team for the 2018 season," Payne said. "Most importantly, these 10 young men have the character, qualities and competitive spirit to immediately contribute to the program in our continued pursuit of excellence in all areas."
The 10 member freshmen class features recruits from all across the nation including California, Connecticut, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
The Class of 2022
Jake Burgess | Forward | 5-11 | 170 | Cornwall, N.Y.
Burgess, a local product from Cornwall, N.Y., attended Cornwall Central High School where he was a three-year varsity starter on the soccer team. He spent his freshman season in Austin, Texas, where he played varsity soccer at St. Stephen's Episcopal. In his first year at Cornwall Central, he was named an All-Section 9 All Star and his squad was crowned section 9 champions. At the club level, he played for TSF Academy from 2016-18 and recorded the most goals on the team in both seasons.
Chris DeBruyne | Defender | 5-7 | 150 | Haymarket, Va.
DeBruyne attended Paul VI High School and was a four-year varsity starter. The Haymarket, Va., native received postseason honors in three of his four years, including All-WCAC and All-VISSA Second Team accolades as a senior. He Played club soccer for Loudoun 99 Red and was part of a regional and national championship in 2016.
Morgan Hebard | Defender | 6-2 | 190 | Irvine, Calif.
Hebard made the trip across the country and will join Zac McGraw and Zane Rojas as one of three athletes on the squad from the Golden State. He played his high school soccer at Junipero Serra Catholic while competing at the club level for Strikers FC Academy USSDA and West Coast FC.
Carter Kowalewski | Midfield/Forward/Defender | 5-8 | 160 | York, Pa.
Kowalewski comes to West Point after finishing his high school playing career at York Suburban, where he served as a team captain during his senior campaign. At the club level, he played for FC York from 2010-16 and for PA Classics Academy from 2016-18.
Sam Millikan | Forward | 6-0 | 180 | Chapel Hill, N.C.
Millikan attended and played his high school soccer at Cardinal Gibbons. He played his club soccer for the Capital Area Railhawks Academy.
Oscar Pereira | Midfield | 5-9 | 165 | Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.
Pereira attended Hastings High School in upstate New York, where he was a key member of the team. In 2016, he helped his squad capture a Class B State Championship. While at Hastings, he was given the Con Edison Scholastic Sports Award. He played club soccer for Everton FC Westchester and has experience playing in the U.S. Academy system.
John Poncy | Forward/Midfield | 6-3 | 165 | McLean, Va.
Poncy trekked to West Point from Virginia, where he spent four years on the varsity squad at McLean High School. While on the soccer team, he was tabbed 6A All-Liberty Conference First Team. In his senior season, he served as a team captain.
Collin Riechman | Defender/Midfield | 5-9 | 170 | College Station, Texas
Rieckman made the trip to West Point from College Station, Texas after playing his high school career at College Station High School. From 2013-18, he played club soccer for Houston Texans DA and was the team's MVP in 2016.
Bradley Schweickert | Midfield | 5-7 | 150 | North Haven, Conn.
Schweickert played his high school soccer at North Haven High School in Connecticut. At the club level, he experienced success with the Oakwood Soccer Club, where he was a three-year captain. The team won the Development Academy National Playoffs in 2017 and 2018, after claiming the Northeast Pre-Academy League Championship in 2016.
Jacob Suppiah | Goalkeeper | 6-0 | 185 | Memphis, Tenn.
Suppiah is the first men's soccer athlete to come to West Point from Tennessee in over 10 years. He played at Memphis University School while in high school where he was a captain for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. His club soccer career was spent with Lobos Rush Premier 99 and he served as the team's captain from 2016-17. The squad was the National League runner-up in 2015.
