WEST POINT, N.Y. - Senior Matt Ball of Army West Point baseball was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All District® Baseball Team, selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Ball was one of just 20 selected to join the Cyber Warfare Branch in November and has notched multiple 'Best in Class' awards while at the Academy, including the Thomas Hawkins Johnson Award for Excellence in Advanced Physics II. The right-handed pitcher has also been a member of Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honor Society) and Phi Kappa Phi (Academic Honor Society) for two years, while earning Dean's List and Dean's Academic Stars all of the semesters he's been at West Point.
To go along with those honors, Ball was named to the baseball Academic All-Patriot League Team during the 2018 and 2016 seasons.
Militarily, he has had experience in many leadership development courses and has also been involved in Cadet Field and Basic Training, while earning Battalion Solider of the Quarter praise last year. He received the Recondo Badge, which was achieved during Cadet Field Training, for military and physical achievement as well.
Along with his military and athletic honors, Ball has a National Defense Service Medal to his record.
