Black Knights to Battle Colgate this Weekend

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team welcomes Colgate this weekend for a three-game Patriot League series starting on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Black Knights and Raiders have squared off 116 times prior to this weekend's series. Colgate holds the all-time series lead 62-54. The Cadets have claimed five consecutive meetings with the Raiders and the last two regular season series.

ARMY (13-20, 3-3 PATRIOT LEAGUE)

Army enters the weekend off a doubleheader series split with Marist on Thursday afternoon.
The Black Knights tallied 15 hits in the two games combined, including four extra-base knocks.
Emily Ballesteros comes into the series on a four-game hitting streak, batting .429 with six hits and an RBI.
Pitcher Courtney Springman lowered her ERA to a league-best 1.80 and picked up her 100th career strikeout.
She is the first pitcher in the league to reach 100 punch outs and is currently 10th in single season strikeouts at West Point with 104.

COLGATE (5-21, 1-2 PATRIOT LEAGUE)

The Raiders took one of two in their home opener against Binghamton on Monday.
With a .282 average, Irby Virginia leads the squad offensively and has compiled 20 hits in 25 games with four doubles, a pair of triples and 13 runs scored.
Holly Geranen has been the team's primary run producer, driving in a team-best 14 and blasting four homers this season.
Colgate has three pitchers who have each made at least eight starts this season.
Jessica Hay holds the lowest ERA (3.66) with 23 strikeouts in 59.1 innings pitched.
