Cadets Drop Series Finale to Lehigh

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team fell to Lehigh, 1-0, in the final game of a weekend Patriot League series on Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, the Black Knights (22-25, 7-8 Patriot League) currently sit in the fourth seed in the Patriot League standings with one final weekend of league play remaining. The Mountain Hawks (18-23, 9-6 Patriot League) held their ground and with the win, kept their spot as the third seed.
Courtney Springman got the start in the series finale and she went the distance for the second time this weekend. The freshman gave up just one run on three hits, while striking out four. She performed well by pitching to contact, inducing 10 ground outs and seven fly outs.
At the plate, Amelia Trotter experienced the most success, totaling three hits in three at-bats.

- Carrie Reilly notched her eighth double and 15th extra-base hit of the season.
- Trotter recorded her 12th stolen base of the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the fourth, Lehigh's leadoff batter got on with a single to center. After being sacrificed over to second, a walk and groundout ensued to place a pair of runners in scoring position. The Mountain Hawks capitalized on the two-out situation by driving in a run on an RBI base hit to right.
- Over the course of the next four frames, the Black Knight bats were kept in check and Lehigh managed to secure the 1-0 series victory.
UP NEXT
- Army will close out its non-conference slate with a road doubleheader on Wednesday at Hartford. First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m.
