Army Blanks Lafayette in Postseason Opener

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The 2-seeded Army West Point women's tennis team opened the Patriot League tournament with a convincing 4-0 victory over 7-seeded Lafayette Friday afternoon at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.

The Black Knights improved to 19-6 on the season, while the Leopards capped their 2017-18 campaign at 9-12.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

Army earned its 25th victory over Lafayette in the all-time series.
It was the Black Knights' 17th straight shutout over the Leopards and increased their winning streak in the series to 23 matches.
Today's match marked the 10th shutout of the season for the Cadets.
This is the third straight season Army has posted double-digit shutouts.
The Black Knights recorded the program's 15th Patriot League tournament victory at West Point by improving to 9-0 all-time in quarterfinal matches.
Army moved to 4-1 opposite the Leopards in the league tournament.
This was also the program's 10th win as the No. 2 seed.
Ana Joyner and Melanie Allen earned their 20th victory of the season as a doubles team.
Joyner and Funaro both posted their 10th win in singles dual action this season.
Rookie Sasha Inchauste became the third Army player this season to reach 20 wins in singles play.
The Houston, Texas, native joins fellow first-years Hannah Boubel (25) and Joyner (22).
