Army Hosts Albany for Wednesday Twinbill

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team will look to continue its winning ways when Albany comes to the Army West Point Softball Complex for a Wednesday doubleheader scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
The Great Danes hold a 10-5 all-time series lead over the Black Knights since the two squads first met in 1979. Albany had won seven straight before the Cadets claimed the last two meetings in a doubleheader sweep in 2015.

- Combining to score 26 runs in the twinbill, the Cadets tallied 31 hits, seven doubles and seven home runs.
- The top four batters in the Army lineup combined to bat .600 with 15 runs scored, 15 RBIs, three doubles and five home runs in the doubleheader.
- Carrie Reilly has been on a tear in the cleanup spot during her eight-game hitting streak, compiling a .542 average, .645 on-base percentage and .958 slugging percentage.
- She has 13 hits, 11 runs scored, 12 RBIs, three homers and a pair of stolen bases during her recent hot stretch.
- Courtney Springman continued to perform well in the circle over the weekend and ranks first in the Patriot League in ERA (1.68) and opponent's batting average (.212).
ALBANY (19-10, 7-3 AMERICA EAST)
- The Great Danes come to West Point off a three-game series sweep over Hartford, outscoring the Hawks 34-5 last weekend.
- Albany has performed well on the road, playing to a 7-1 mark away from the New York state capital.
- Sarah Petzold and Kelly Spear lead the charge offensively, combining for 55 hits, 14 doubles, four homers and 45 RBIs, while both batting over .330.
- Celeste Verdolivo has shined in the circle, sporting a 10-1 record with a 1.72 ERA.
- She has tossed 10 complete games and is holding the opposition to a .209 average in 77.1 innings of work.
- The Great Danes currently carry a .265 batting average through 29 games and have showcased some pop in the bats, belting 18 homers. Â
