Army Blanks Lafayette, Holy Cross in PL Opener

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team shut out Lafayette, 4-0, and Holy Cross, 7-0, to open Patriot League play Friday afternoon at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.

The Black Knights improved to 14-5 overall and 2-0 in league play, while the Leopards dropped to 6-7 and 0-1. Additionally, the Crusaders fell to 3-8 and 0-3.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

Army now controls the all-time series against Lafayette and Holy Cross 24-10 and 24-2, respectively.
The Black Knights posted their fifth and sixth shutouts of the season.
Danna Funaro was the only Army player to win multiple matches in either singles or doubles, going 2-0 in both facets.
Funaro also tied her personal best 14 singles victories from last season.
Kirby Einck won her seventh-straight singles match.
Rookie Ana Joyner documented her team-best 18th doubles win of the year.
