TAMPA, Fla. – The Army West Point baseball team ran into impressive pitching here Friday night and dropped a 12-0 decision to South Florida.

The Bulls jumped on things early notching six runs in the opening frame. They then tacked on one run in the second and third before breaking the game open in the sixth with two additional runs. Army was ultimately never able to recover.

The Black Knights did manage to drawn back-to-back walks to lead off the final frame but the Bulls rebounded to sit the next three batters down in order to retire the side.

Matt Gray made his first career start on the mound. The rookie allowed nine hits and eight runs, six of which were earned in 3.0 innings of work.

Mike Gagliardi came in for relief, giving up five hits and three runs, one earned, in four extended innings.

Brock Daugherty closed out the final inning for Army, allowing one unearned run.

Shane McClanahan improved to 3-1 on the hill for the Bulls. He pitched six innings of hitless and scoreless baseball, conceding just three walks. The redshirt sophomore also compiled a career-high 15 strikeouts during his time on the mound.

Carson Ragsdale finished the final 3.0 innings giving up only two walks.

Josh White led the team with two walks.
Gray and Brendan Siriani made their first career starts.
The Bulls notched five extra base hits in the game.
Siriani threw out the first baserunner of his career when Chris Chatfield tried to steal second.

The Black Knights failed to register any hits or runs. USF compiled 12 runs on 14 hits.
Army was credited with the only two errors of the game.
The Cadets left five runners on base, while the Bulls stranded seven.
