HOW IT HAPPENED
- With their top starter in the circle, the Jaspers cruised to a 2-0 advantage through the opening three frames, not allowing a single Army hit. However, Trotter led off the fourth with a single to center and two batters later, came in to score on a Ballesteros RBI single.
- Taylor Drayton then dug into the box and singled to put runners on first and second with one out. Snelling was due up next and she brought in the game-tying run on a double to left.
- The score remained tied at 2-2 until the sixth, when the Black Knight bats got going again. With two outs in the inning, Snelling reached on a Manhattan fielding error and moved to second on a Madison Cole single to center. Swafford then drove in a run to put Army ahead with an RBI single to right before a passed ball permitted a second run to score during the ensuing at-bat.
- After Sam Hartman drew a base on balls to put runners on first and second, Taylor Livingston lifted a ball into center and another run was plated to give the Black Knights a 5-2 advantage.
- Springman headed out to the circle to finish out her solid day and worked a scoreless seventh to secure the win for the Cadets.
